Olympic boxing bronze medallist, Paddy Barnes “might” be heading for Dungiven in a couple of weeks, but it won’t be to get in the ring.
The flamboyant Belfast boxer could be stepping up to the start line of the Eurospar charity 10k race on August 25th. Organisers are keen to have the charismatic Barnes in Dungiven and are working to get him at the start line.
During his hectic homecoming schedule yesterday, when asked by the ‘Journal’ on ‘Twitter’ if he’ll take part in the race, he replied: “I might!”
Hoping he will is Banagher boxing, Eamonn O’Kane. The pair know each other well, and also competed in the same charity 10K a couple of years ago.
“I did it in around 40 minutes and I think I beat Paddy by about 30 seconds, but he’s been flying in these Olympics,” says O’Kane.
“I hope to do it, but Paddy will be hard to beat!”
Almost Done!
