Local games developers Troll Inc have launched their first game, Jellyflug, on the app store. So far, the app is selling well, gaining plenty of 5 star reviews and is in the Top 40 Adventure Games worldwide at the time of writing.

Huge Music Industry LineUp Announced

The music industry is right at the heart of the crossroads between culture and technology – so it’s right at the heart of CultureTECH too.

This week we’ve announced seven new music industry speakers, including six from music sync (the use of music in TV, games, advertising etc...) including: Marsha Shandur (Music Supervisor-The Inbetweeners), Sergio Pimentel (Nimrod Productions and formerly Activision Blizzard), Simon Pursehouse (Sentric), Amine Ramer (States of Sound), Adrian Cooke (Portmanteau) and Josh Marcy (Mophonics)

These speakers are joining some great names likeAndrew Dubber (New Music Strategies & advisor to Bandcamp), Stephen O’Reilly (Mobile Roadie),bndhck.com and of course the Smalltown America / Independentmusic.com popup shop.

We’ll also be announcing most of our live music lineup at the start of July – including three official parties, showcases and a public concert smack bang in the middle of the city.

If you’re into the music industry, there won’t be many better lineups that this in Ireland this year!

Cathal Furey, CEO of 45Sound (Dublin)

Cathal is CEO and co-founder of 45sound, an Irish tech startup who have developed a service for easily fan-sourcing live music videos and making them sound great by automatically matching them with a proper live audio recording. 45sound were one of the finalists of the music startup competition at this year’s SxSW.

He holds a BSc in Finance, Computing & Enterprise and an MA in International Relations and previously lectured in Dublin City University.

You’ll also find 45sound in use at gigs throughout CultureTECH, so whip out your smartphone, download the app and start helping us make some live music videos!

Javier Lopez, MIDEM

Javier Lopez is the Director UK & Ireland Sales – Music Division – for midem, the original and most important global music trade show and conference, which has been taking place in Cannes for the last 45 years. In 2012, 6900 participants from 75 countries and representing over 3000 companies attended the event.

Javier came to the UK 20 years ago and never returned to his native Madrid, except for some summer sun! After working several years as a freelance music journalist in London for Spanish magazines he joined a music exporter in London where he started his career in sales and business development.

Eight years ago he joined Reed Midem and he is responsible for exhibition, advertising and sponsorship sales as well as being the main point of contact for any British and Irish company, or artist, that wants to go to midem and expand their international business opportunities.

John Donnelly, Commercial Director of Glasgow 2014 (Commonwealth Games)

John’s responsibilities at Commercial Director of Glasgow 2014 include developing the sponsorship, merchandising and ticket-sale strategies for the Commonwealth Games. In addition to this, John also assumed responsibility for the sale of the OC’s international broadcast rights.

Prior to joining Glasgow 2014 John was Managing Director at three integrated agencies in a career spanning 20yrs: KLP EuroRSCG; The Marketing Store Worldwide; and bd ntwk; and a director at iris, the independent worldwide agency network.

Clients included Coca Cola, Peugeot; Bacardi Martini, Philips, Unilever, and significant achievements include launching T in The Park and managing bd ntwk to the MCCA Agency of the Year, and over 40 awards.
