Management and fans of Southampton Football Club are said to be furious at Adam Lallana’s transfer to Liverpool because they say the player more or less pushed the move through by declaring if it didn’t happen he wouldn’t play for the south coast side again.

I could and still can’t understand the mentality of people who want to hold on to a player who has indicated that his future is elsewhere.

Lallana told Southampton before going to the World Cup with England that he wanted to move on and the dogs in the street knew Liverpool was where he wanted to go.

One interesting fact about the transfer fee is that Bournemouth FC will get over £5 million as per the sell on clause negotiated with Southampton when Lallana joined them as a young boy.

Ironically if Lallana makes his debut in Liverpool’s first home game of the new season it will be against Southampton whose fans no doubt will let the midfielder know how much they ‘miss’ him in typical football fashion.
