Straitéis don Ghaeilge

Have your say

Ag an am seo den bhliain, tús na scoilbliana, beidh a lán daoine idir óg agus aosta ag tosú ar chúrsa Gaeilge. Mar sin de, is smaoineamh maith é plean agus spriocanna a bheith agat.

Den chéad dul síos, tá sé iontach deacair teanga ar bith a fhoghlaim i d’aonar. Is rud sóisialta í teanga, agus tá daoine eile de dhíth ort. Ach mura bhfuil tú ábalta freastal ar ranganna, tá a lán cúrsaí d’fhoghlaimeoirí ar an Idirlíon chomh maith le téacsleabhair mhaithe. Tá ranganna ar siúl in Inis Eoghain agus Doire agus is féidir eolas a fháil i do leabharlann áitiúil. Mura bhfuil am agat a bheith ag freastal ar rang go rialta, socraítear ceardlanna ag amanna éagsúla i rith na bliana. Is féidir le grúpa ar bith poiblíocht a fháil d’ócáid Ghaeilge ar an cholún seo. Ach ná scríobh isteach an lá roimh an ócáid!

Tá sé thar a bheith tábhachtach tús a chur le teanga chomh luath agus is féidir. Foghlaimíonn páiste beag teanga eile gan strus ar bith. Feiceann duine fásta ceachtanna teanga go minic mar shraith d’ fhadhbanna le réiteach. Tá ardmholadh tuillte ag Naíonra Bhun Cranncha mar gheall ar an obair a dhéanann siad leis na páistí. Ach chomh maith leis sin, tá an Naíonra ag eagrú deireadh seachtaine Gaeilge ar an Satharn, 27 Meán Fómhair agus ar an Domhnach, 28 Meán Fómhair san Exchange, Bun Cranncha. Is é Tae agus Teanga an teideal atá ar an ócáid. Beidh grúpaí comhrá ann, beidh cluichí tríd an Ghaeilge ann, beidh ceol ann agus beidh craic ann, ar ndóigh. Níl táille ar bith ann. Thig leat sonraí a fháil ó 0879431234.

Beidh na ranganna Gaeilge ag tosú i Magh ar 14 Deireadh Fómhair i Halla Mhuire. Freastalaítear ar gach leibhéal. Is féidir tuilleadh eolais a fháil ón Áisionad i Magh: 9384572.

Tá cuid mhaith ciorcal comhrá sa cheantar anois. Tá súil agam liosta a fhoilsiú an tseachtain seo chugainn. Más mian leat dul chun cinn a dhéanamh taobh amuigh den seomra ranga, tugann ciorcal comhrá seans iontach duit. Agus tugann sé deis duit bualadh le daoine atá chomh bómánta is atá tú féin.

A Strategy for Irish

At this time of year, the start of the school year, many people, both young and old will be starting an Irish course. So it is a good idea to have a plan and targets.

Firstly it must be said that it is very difficult to learn a language on your own. A language is a social thing, and you need people. But if you cannot attend classes, there are many courses available for the beginner on the Internet as well as some good textbooks. There are classes in Inis Eoghain and Derry and you can get information from your local library. If you don’t have the time to attend classes regularly, workshops are organised at various time throughout the year. Any group can get publicity for an Irish language event in this column. But don’t write in the day before the event!

It is very important to make a start to learning a language as soon as possible. A small child learns another language without any stress. An adult often sees language lessons as a series of problems to be solved. The Irish Nursery in Buncrana deserves the highest praise for its work with children. But as well as that, the Naíonra is organising an Irish language weekend on Saturday, 27 September and Sunday, 28 September in the Exchange in Buncrana . The event is called Tea and Language. There will be conversational groups, games through Irish, music and of course, craic. There is no fee. You can get details from: 0879431234.

The Irish classes will be starting in Muff on 14 October in St. Mary’s Community Hall. Further information may be had from the Resource Centre in Muff 93845 72.

There are quite a few conversational groups in the area now. I hope to publish a list next week. If you want to make progress outside the classroom, a conversational circle provides an excellent opportunity .And it gives you a chance to meet people who are as mad as you are.
