Have your say

Faightear ‘Foinse’ saor in aisce leis an ‘Irish Independent’ gach Céadaoin. Tá sé ar an saol le níos mó ná bliain go leith agus déanann foireann an pháipéir jab iontach. Tá ‘Foinse’ dírithe níos mó ar dhaoine óga (cosúil liom féin) - agus is maith an rud é sin, ach clúdaíonn sé a lán - cursaí reatha, imeachtaí, oideachas, spórt, faisean srl. Rud éigin d’achan duine sa teach! Tá thart fá 190,000 léitheoir ag an nuachtán! Agus anois, tá suíomh idirlín aige - foinse.ie. Leis an suíomh seo, tá ‘Foinse’ ábalta nuacht a chur ar fáil ar bhonn laethúil, leis na príomhscéalta ar fad, go náisiúnta agus go hidirnáisiúnta. Agus ní fhaigheann sé pingin rua ó rialtas ar bith!

Tá réimse leathan suíomh nuachta ar fáil do lucht na Gaeilge anois: Foinse, Nuacht24, Gaelscéal, Saol. Agus tá an colún seo ar fáil ar an idirlíon chomh maith! Teigh chuig derryjournal.com; gabh chuig bun an chéad leathanaigh, chuig ‘columnists’, agus tá Gaeilge agat!

AR SON GRINN

Foilsíodh ‘Jócleabhar beag bídeach na Gaeilge’, le Risteard Mac Gabhann, an tseachtain seo caite. Beidh mé ag scríobh níos mó fá dtaobh de níos moille. Téigh chuig an Chultúrlann agus ceannaigh é. Tá fuadach ar an leabhar! Idir an dá linn, seo focal grinn nach bhfeicfidh tú sa ‘Jócleabhar’. Ar chuala tu an ceann faoin chathair bheag Ghaelach i dTuaisceart na hÉireann nach raibh in ann tacú le meánscoil Ghaeilge?

CUIR ORT DO BHRÓGA RINCE!

Beidh céilí i Halla Pobail Naomh Mhuire, Magh, anocht (Dé hAoine), le tacú le hathchoiriú an teach pobail i nDrung (ó 10 go dtí 1.00, táille €5, suipéar san áireamh), agus Dé Domhnaigh beidh céilí eile san áit chéanna mar chuid d’fheachtas méarachta Mary Porter, atá ag seasamh ar son Aonad Sciath-thithíochta Mhaighe, ó 9.00 go dtí 12.00, táille €5, bonnóga agus tae san áireamh. Ní bheidh tú ag baint rince as airgead lé táillí mar sin!

A FINE SITE

‘Foinse’ can be had free with the ‘Irish Independent’ every Wednesday. It has been coming out for more than a year and a half, and the paper’s staff do a marvellous job. ‘Foinse’ is aimed more at young people (like myself) - and that is a good thing. But it covers a lot - current affairs, events, education, sport, fashion etc. Something for everyone in the house! The paper has around 190,000 readers! It now has an internet site- foinse.ie. With this site ‘Foinse’ is able to supply news on a daily basis, with leading national and international stories.

And it doesn’t get a penny from any government.

Irish speakers have a wide range of news sites now: Foinse, Nuacht24, Gaelscéal, Saol. And this column is available on the Internet as well! Go to derryjournal.com; go to columnists at the bottom of the first page, and you have Irish!

JUST A JOKE

Risteard Mac Gabhann’s little Irish Joke book was published last week. I will be writing about it at greater length later. Go and buy it at the Cultúrlann. The book is being snatched up! Meanwhile, here is a joke that you won’t see in the Joke book. Have you heard the one about the little Irish city in the North that could not support an all-Irish school?

PUT ON YOUR DANCING SHOES!

There will be a céilí in St. Mary’s Community Hall, Muff tonight, (Friday) for the renovation of Drung church 10.00 – 1.00, admission 5 euro, including supper), and on Sunday there will be a céilí in the same place as part of Mary Porter’s mayoral campaign. Mary is standing on behalf of Muff Sheltered Housing: 9.00 – 12.00, admission 5 euro, including tea and scones. With prices like that, you won’t be breaking the bank!
