Have your say

Will the real Neil Lennon please stand up!

In the very same week the Celtic boss threatens to resign and follows that up by telling us that he’s “in it for the long haul” and that he’s “no quitter.” But his public outburst exhibited a petulance and an immaturity which many Celtic fans had hoped their manager would have left behind him.

Lennon wears his heart on his sleeve and his relationship with the club’s supporters was probably the deciding factor in him actually getting the job as the Celtic boss in the first place.

But now that he has become a respected manager of a huge club, he must learn to take a step back on occasions and think more before opting to make public statements.

Indeed, there have been a few rumblings of discontentment among the Celtic Faithful, especially in regard to the club’s displays in the Scottish Premier League this season, but it’s not widespread and has now been aimed specifically at the manager.

Of course, fans are entitled to express their frustrations but even those who did recently were probably fans of the current team boss.

Having offered his resignation after some fans voiced their opinions is something a manager may get away with once or twice and Neil would be much better advised to concentrate on his managerial duties and not get involved in verbal spats with supporters.
