Confirmation that Derry will host the Pan Celtic Festival in 2014 and 2015 has been welcomed in the city.
Derry’s Deputy Mayor Kevin Campbell says the festival will bring thousands of visitors to the city.
“This is more great news for the city, following the decision by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann that Derry will host Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 2013,” the Sinn Fein councillor says.
“The Pan Celtic Festival attracts visitors from throughout Ireland as well as the other Celtic nations. This will be the first time that the Festival has been hosted in the North and I am sure that Derry will prove to be a great location for the event.”
The Festival which aims are to promote and strengthen Celtic languages, culture, music, song and sport attracts competitors, artists and visitors from all parts of Ireland as well as, Brittany, Cornwall, Wales, Scotland, the Isle of Man.
