The Health Service Executive (HSE) has confirmed there will be no change to patient services at Carndonagh Community Hospital following the resignation of General Practitioners there yesterday.
GPs who cover both Carndonagh Community Hospital and Lifford hospitals resigned from their positions there on Monday morning over what has been reported as inequalities over doctors’ contracts.
The HSE told the ‘Journal’ yesterday that medical cover still remains in place within both hospitals, at which services include respite and convalescent care.
A spokesperson added: “The resignation is purely a temporary, technical issue pertaining to a number of doctors.
“Carndonagh and Lifford Community Hospitals provides a broad spectrum of care to people.
“This includes long term continuing care, short term assessment, respite, convalescent, rehabilitation, palliative care, and dementia-specific care. Services to patients are unaffected.”
They confirmed: “Services to patients are unaffected.”
