Limavady Policing and Community Safety Partnership - working in partnership with Limavady Borough Council’s Sports Development Team - will deliver a FREE 20 week midnight soccer project, after a hugely successful winter project last year.
Kicking off at Roe Valley Leisure Centre on Friday, September 26, 2014, the new project will target young people (aged 12 to 17) on Friday evenings as part of a youth diversion plan.
The last programme facilitated up to 100 young people on a weekly basis.
Limavady PCSP chair Michael Coyle said: “PCSP is delighted to once more fund this project to offer diversionary activities to local teenagers.”
Mr Ollie Mullan, Sports Development officer, said: “This is an exciting initiative that we know delivers positive results.
“Our previous project - after a steady start – grew to the point where we had upwards on 100 young people from right across the Borough, taking part in midnight soccer on Friday nights.
“We will include refreshments, which proved very popular with participants last time.
“This project will again offer valuable opportunities to undertake coaching and sports development accredited programmes, as well as improve fitness levels,” he said.
