Police in Derry are appealing for information about a robbery which took place in the Pennyburn area of the city early on Thursday morning.

Detective Inspector David McQuade said that, shortly after 5am, a number of masked men approached staff arriving at business premises in the Pennyburn Industrial Estate.

The masked men appeared to be carrying bats or iron bars.

It’s understood the gang stole money from a car driven by the staff members.

However, neither staff member was injured in the incident.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw a group of four or five men in the Pennyburn Industrial Estate at the time of the robbery.

Information can be provided on the police non-emergency number, 101, or by calling the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
