A pensioner has been acquitted by a Derry Crown Court jury of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.
The jury of seven men and five women spent more than three hours deliberating their verdict.
They reached majority verdicts on a total of four charges alleged to have occurred between May 1 and July 21 2009.
The parents of the girl who made the allegations left the court room as the non guilty verdict was read out.
The 66-year-old man wept in the dock as he was told he was free to go.
Judge Piers grant thanked the jury for the ir conscientious consideration of the case. He said their role had been an important one.
