Limavady solicitor, Philip Kingston has been elected as President of the Roe Valley Chamber of Commerce for a second term. The Limavady man was appointed at the Chamber’s AGM on Thursday at the Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, Limavady.

Addressing members, Philip Kingston said: “2011 was a difficult year for the Roe Valley in general but the Chamber committee completed a very good range of activities throughout the year, and although there were fewer public organised events for members, the Chamber lobbied tirelessly on behalf of the business community and submitted a number of responses to central government consultatiion papers, getting the name of Roe Vally Chamber of Commerce out there.

“The Committee does face a general business apathy towards Chamber activities in general and this was witnessed by the very low attendance at three networking functions which were poorly attended by traders. In this incoming year, increased publicity will attempt to redress this balance as we all look forward to a new year of trading in the Roe Valley.”

Officers elected were:

President: Philip Kingston (for a 2nd term), Vice-president: Resemarie Jenkins, Secretary: Kathleen McCaul, Treasurer: Brian Brown, PR Officer: Kate Carlile

Committee Members: Chrsitine O’Brien, Patricia Kirkpatrick, Betty McNerlin, Lucille Brolly, Jim Peoples, Barry Slowey, Marc McGerty, Julie Brolly.
