Planet Hollywood getting a bit greener!

A local company hopes to slash its carbon footprint by installing 200 solar panels.

Brunswick Moviebowl has lodged a planning application to install the solar panels at their premises in Pennyburn Industrial Estate.

However, it is understood work will start soon because of an exemption in new planning regulations which came into force this month which does not require planning approval for renewable energy panels.

Edmund Simpson, proprietor of Brunswick Moviebowl, told the ‘Journal’ that their business has been monitoring their energy consumption over the past few years.

“We have reduced our consumption by about ten percent so far. With the solar panels we hope to conserve energy even more and do our bit to be green”.

Mr Simpson added that the panels should generate around 50kw of electricity for the Moviebowl and that this will not only reduce their carbon footprint but also save money for them.

“Despite reducing our consumption by ten percent we are still paying more for electricity because the price has gone up so much in the last five years.”

Mr Simpson said they hope to have all 200 panels completed within the next couple of weeks.
