Police seize drugs worth £2.5k of cannabis in Limavady

PSNI Crime Team officers seized drugs worth £2,500 in Limavady at the weekend.

PSNI Limavady said on their Twitter on Monday: “£2,500 worth of herbal cannabis seized in car in Limavady by Crime Team officers on Saturday night. Two people arrested and bailed.”

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police in Limavady arrested a man and a woman, both aged in their 20’s, on suspicion of possession of class B controlled drugs and possession of class B controlled drugs with intent to supply on the evening of Saturday 24th January.

“A quantity of suspected herbal cannabis was seized from the car in which they were travelling, in the Scroggy Road area of the town at around 8.15pm. Enquiries are continuing.”

Chief Inspector Alan Hutton, the Area Commander, said it underlined a commitment to tackling drugs issues in the borough.

“This is the latest in a series of successes over recent months. Tackling the trade in illegal drugs is a priority for us, and for many people in our community,” he said.
