Derry dole queue fall but still highest rate in North

Almost 50 people came off the dole in Derry last month but the city still has the highest unemployment rate in the North.

The latest government figures show that 48 people came off unemployment related benefits during March.

But a total of 6107 - or 8.6% of the workforce - remain on the dole.

The unemployment rate for men in Derry currently stands at 12.3% while for women the rate is 5%.

In Limavady the percentage of people claiming unemployment related benefits stands at 7% while in Strabane the rate is currently 7.4%
