Election candidate Albert Doherty has called on Donegal County Council to urgently repair and resurface the road entrances outside the community centre in Clonmany.
This picture shows the extent of the damage outside the busy centre.
Mr Doherty, a Sinn Fein candidate for the Inishowen electoral area said: “This matter has been raised with me by many local residents and by the Clonmany town renewal committee over the past number of weeks and needs urgent attention.”
Mr Doherty has spoken out on the issue of roads throughout his campaign, stating funding cuts for roads in Inishowen and Donegal were a “disgrace.”
He said he was “shocked” by the state of a number of roads across the peninsula and called for adequate upgrade funding to be provided.
He said the decision of the Fine Gael Transport Minister Leo Varadkar to suspend the Local Improvement Scheme in 2011 and his failure to provide any additional funding for the scheme in 2013 or 2014 was “causing serious hardship for many people across the Inishowen peninsula.”
