Sinn Féin councillor Patricia Logue has said street lights in the Ivy Terrace area of the city need to be upgraded as a matter of urgency.
Colr. Logue said residents in the area have raised concerns about safety.
“I have been contacted by a number of residents living in Ivy Terrace who have expressed the opinion that the street lighting there is in need of an urgent overhaul and upgrade. I will do all that I can to get this situation rectified. I have written to the Road Service in regards to this matter asking that they assess the area with the view of carrying out the necessary upgrade as soon as possible.
“Residents have concerns about the darkness of the street at night, about security around their homes and for people walking in the area late at night. It’s also a very narrow street and there are safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians.”
