After heavy instances of flooding in the Greater Foyle Springs/Ballymagroatry Area, SDLP Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan and Councillor John Boyle have organised a multi-agency public meeting to deliver a more permanent resolution to the ongoing problems.
Mark H Durkan MLA said, “Recently we have seen the Greater Foyle Springs Area and the Holy Family Parish suffer widely due heavy rainfall. While, I am delighted I have been able to assist many families in the immediate aftermath of flooding, I am keen to ensure a more permanent resolution for the area is implemented.
“We cannot allow residents and our local church community to be left dealing with such disasters in the future. SDLP have organised a multi-agency meeting this Friday 22nd August to take place at 1pm in Holy Family Primary School. I encourage all residents to attend to put forward their issues and also to hear the future plans for the area.
Councillor John Boyle said: “From speaking with residents in the Foyle Springs area and local clergy, I share their frustrations at this ongoing problem. I believe that this meeting on Friday will open up this issue, allowing residents the opportunity to work with all bodies to reach a swift and effective response.
“ I urge anyone interested to attend and get in touch with the SDLP on 02871365516 if you have any queries ahead of the meeting. I look forward to working closely with the community to reach a workable solution for the betterment of the area.”
