A Derry PhD student has had his work in the energy sector recognised with a prestigious award.
Adrian Pugsley was awarded the distinguished McBride Prize at the annual Energy Institute Student Awards Evening held at Malone House, Belfast.
The McBride Prize is awarded to the student who has written the best dissertation on an energy related topic from an Energy Institute accredited course.
Adrian was recognised for his research entitled ‘Development of a low cost solar thermal vacuum assisted phase change desalinator.’
Robin Davey of the Energy Institute congratulated all the award winners.
“Northern Ireland is quickly becoming a thriving hub of the energy sector, and courses like the ones acknowledged this evening from University of Ulster and Queen’s University are contributing greatly to growth in the energy sector here,” he said.
Adrian is currently studying for a PhD in hybrid photovoltaic / solar thermal façade collectors at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown,
