Professor Green and MNEK have expressed their excitement ahead of performing at the MTV Crashes Derry Friday night concert at Ebrington.
The two talented artists are the first to be confirmed for the weekend of concerts, with several more acts be announced in the coming weeks.
Prof. Green and MNEK will take to the stage in front of a 10,000 people in Derry’s Ebrington Square on the 19th September.
The first 10,000 tickets for the event sold out in just 40 seconds when they were released earlier in the month, but it has now been confirmed that there will be further announcements via Derry City Council and MTV for ticket competitions.
The line up for the follow up MTV dance night on Saturday September 20th, which also sold out in seconds, and details of an event on the Sunday night have yet to be released.
MTV Crashes Derry will be broadcast across MTV’s flagship UK music TV channels, MTV MUSIC and MTV LIVE HD and subsequently across its portfolio of European music channels in October.
Rapper, songwriter, producer and now fashion designer Professor Green is soon to release his third studio album ‘Growing Up In Public’.
The album features collaborations from artists including Rizzle Kicks, Ed Sheeran and Tori Kelly.
Speaking ahead of the Derry gig, Professor Green said: “I am just excited to get out on that stage, I love performing, that’s what it’s all about for me, so I’m looking forward to sharing my tracks with this Derry audience and seeing their reaction at MTV Crashes!’
South London born, Grammy nominated songwriter and producer MNEK is an artist scored a No.4 smash with Gorgon City’s hugely acclaimed ‘Ready For Your Love’.
As a songwriter, he boasts a Grammy nomination and a No.1 single for Duke Dumont’s ‘Need U (100%)’.
As a producer, writer and remixer, his credits include Rudimental, Sub Focus, Tinie Tempah and Bastille as well as working with Diplo, Clean Bandit and Sinead Hartnett.
MNEK releases his first official single, the infectious ‘Wrote a Song About You’, on 1st September.
MNEK said he too was looking forward to taking to the stage at Ebrington.
He said: “I am looking forward to getting out there and performing alongside Professor Green at MTV Crashes Derry, I think it’s going to be a good one and hopefully we will well and truly crash it.”
Mayor of Derry Brenda Stevenson said she was hugely excited that Professor Green and MNEK have been confirmed as support acts for MTV Crashes Derry~Londonderry.
“This is a huge coup for the city and fantastic news for popular music fans across the city and region.
“We are delighted to be working with MTV to announce additional acts in the coming weeks and look forward to hosting another hugely successful legacy event as part of Music City 2014.”

MTV UK audiences will be able to get closer to the MTV Crashes Derry - Londonderry action using new social media network Tunepics. MTV successfully launched Tunepics at Plymouth Crashes last month, sharing exclusive content with its users.
