SDLP councillor Shauna Cusack said she wants to hear from as many residents as possible so that she can help to tackle the issue before winter arrives.

“As we approach winter, the need for our street lamps to be working effectively is very important. Many defective lights have gone unnoticed over the summer months with one resident of Oranmore recently reporting that no less than five lights were out in the local park leaving a large portion in complete darkness. Such circumstances pose increased risk to the young families and older people living in the area.”

Colr. Cusack said she would do everything she could to help residents wanting to report street lighting problems.

“The sooner these faults are reported, the quicker they can be put on Transport NI’s schedule helping to prevent a backlog going into winter and so I encourage people to get in touch with myself and other elected representatives. We will be more than happy to assist in progressing these reports,” she said.
