Residents in Rosemount have raised concerns about plans to introduce a one way traffic system in the area.
The introduction of a one way system at Rosemount Gardens and Park Avenue has been suggested as a way to tackle the long standing traffic problems in the area.
One resident said people in the area are concerned about the impact of the plans, if they go ahead.
“I have been speaking to a couple of my neighbours and they didn’t realise that the one way system was coming as far up as the roundabout on Creggan Hill until we saw the story in the press.
“We know there has been a major problem further down the road around Park Avenue and the traffic there can be bedlam at times, but I don’t know if a one way system would work this far up.”
Sinn Féin councillor for the area, Colly Kelly, said; “I would urge any resident of Rosemount Gardens who has concerns about these proposals to make them known during the Roads Service consultation currently taking place over the next two weeks. This can be done at Road Services offices on Crescent Road in the Waterside. It’s very important for the people of the area that whatever the outcome, this is got right from the outset.”
