Sinn Féin councillor Tony Hassan has appealed for drivers to respect speed limits in the Culmore area of the city.
Colr. Hassan said he had been contacted by a number of residents in the area concerned about speeding.
“I would urge motorists to slow down whilst travelling through the area and to adhere to the speed limits in place.
“The Culmore area has grown considerably in recent years and residents with young families have expressed their concerns over speeding cars in the Point area which pose an obvious risk to pedestrians. Speed is one of the biggest contributing factors to road deaths in Ireland.”
