Richard E. Grant visits Derry but, not by mistake

Revered British actor and director, Richard E. Grant, visited Derry on Wednesday.

The ‘Withnail & I’ star is working with Tourism Ireland and Smooth Radio to promote Ireland as a tourist destination.

The 58 year-old Swaziland born thespian is travelling around the island and making short films about his experiences on the road.

The films will feature Belfast, the Causeway Coast, the Wild Atlantic Way, Dublin and Ireland’s Ancient East, in a campaign estimated to reach 5.5 million people.

The world famous entertainer took time out to sample some of Derry’s best cuisine and took a stroll across the Peace Bridge.

Grant, who also appeared in ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ (1992), is rumoured to appear in season six of ‘Game of Thrones’.

At the time of going to press it was unclear whether Grant had attempted to order the finest wines known to humanity in local eatery, ‘Brown’s In Town’.
