The Real IRA have warned Catholic members of the PSNI they are “liable for execution” and that the GAA, Catholic Church, and politicians will be unable to protect them.

The threat was made by a masked member of the organisation, dressed in full paramilitary uniform, who read out a statement from the Real IRA leadership during an Easter Rising commemoration in the City Cemetery yesterday organised by the 32 County Sovereignty Movement.

The warning comes after the murder of PSNI officer Ronan Kerr, which was followed by strong condemnation from republican and nationalist politicians, church leaders, and senior GAA figures.

This year’s commemoration event attracted a large media presence, with representatives from SKY News and other international news outlets.

A colour party of seven masked men, led by an officer shouting marching instructions, led yesterday’s commemoration into the cemetery, where wreaths were laid at the republican monument.

One of the masked men was then called to the podium to read the statement on behalf of the Real IRA.

In a stark warning to Catholics serving in the PNSI, the masked man said; “Óglaigh na hÉireann call on any young nationalist who may have been sold the lie that the RUC/PSNI is somehow an reformed, non- political police service to think again. Those who think they are serving their community are in fact serving the occupation and will be treated as such.

“The GAA, Catholic church and constitutional nationalism will be unable to protect those who turn traitor. They are as liable for execution as anyone else regardless of their religion, cultural background or motivation.”

The Real IRA spokesperson also said the group has link with other armed dissident groups and is prepared to work together.

“The IRA have worked closely with other organisations in every way and we will do so in the future. A united republican base is much more able to withstand the onslaught of the united forces of occupation,” he said.

The masked man also issued a warning to members of the public.

“The IRA repeat our warnings to civilians to stay away from the scenes of IRA attacks or alerts. We have noticed a pattern developing whereby the RUC/PSNI are deliberately putting civilians at risk.”

The terror group spokesperson also warned of plans to disrupt Queen Elizabeth’s forthcoming visit to Ireland. “The queen of England is wanted for war crimes in Ireland and not wanted on Irish soil. We will do our best to ensure she and the gombeen class that act as her cheerleaders get that message.”

The main oration at the event was delivered by Marion Price and local government election candidate Gary Donnelly read out a statement on behalf of Real IRA prisoners in Maghaberry.
