Staff at Roe Valley Leisure Centre are celebrating after being awarded a prestigious safety accreditation.
The Centre is just one of six across the north to hold the Leisure Safe accreditation.
Leisure Services Manger Barry Toorish said: “Achieving this accreditation is a real testimony to the Centre’s Risk Assessment Team who oversee fundamental process of safety within the centre and in particular Glen Rankin who leads the team and coordinates and plans all staff training.
“We now have a detailed action plan to enable further improvements to be made over the next 2 years. This award will reassure all our staff and customers that we take their safety seriously and are committed to ensuring all who come into the centre have an enjoyable and safe experience at all times.”
Roe Valley Leisure Centre had to undergo a two-day inspection process and produce evidence of planning, implementing and monitoring best practice in terms of all relevant safety legislation and codes of practice. The assessment and certification requires attaining a score of at least 65% or above.
Roe Valley leisure Centre was awarded 81.6% and the facility is now the highest scoring leisure centre in N. Ireland. The award is valid for two years.
