Tributes have been paid to former mayor of Derry, Kathleen McCloskey, who died yesterday.
Mrs McCloskey served on Derry City Council as an SDLP representative for 12 years and was mayor of the city in 2002-03. The tributes were led by Foyle MP Mark Durkan, who described Mrs McCloskey as a "wonderfully warm woman."
"Her deep instinct for public service was matched by the ready personal rapport she had with those whom she served.
"Kathleen had her finger on the pulse and would readily reflect the hopes and concerns of the community.
"She was widely admired for her good nature, respected for her good judgement and appreciated for her good work on behalf of so many," he said.
Mayor of Derry, Colr. Colum Eastwood said: "Kathleen has been one of the most hard working and well-respected councillors and news of her death will be met with great sadness across the city and beyond. She was full of fun and loved nothing more than to chat with people."
