School celebrates 150 years

Bellarena Primary School is hosting a fun day tomorrow to celebrate its 150th birthday.

The school opened in 1861 and will celebrate its milestone with events from 11am to 3pm. “Everyone is welcome to come and experience memories from the past to the present with displays of old photographs, maps, classroom equipment and story-telling by past pupils,” said a spoksperson.

“We will also be displaying a vintage tractor next to a very modern one to mark the advance in technology and a lady will be there baking scones on an open griddle. There will be fun and games for everyone including horseshoe throwing, skipping, Tug of War, conkers, face and nail painting, cake stalls, bran dip and more.”

Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day, as will a BBQ selling burgers and hotdogs. A Balloon Launch which will take place at 12.30pm and the Time Capsule will be filled by the present-day pupils. Admission is free.
