Colum Eastwood MLA has welcomed a pilot project to allow Royal Mail customers in Derry to pick up their parcels on a Sunday for the first time.
Derry’s delivery office at Great James Street and Belfast’s South and Central delivery office will open from this Sunday as part of the Royal Mail pilot project.
The move is designed to make it easier for online shoppers who are not at home during the day to get their parcels.
“This pilot will be a welcome move for many Royal Mail customers as well as carriers and retailers,” said Mr Eastwood.
“Many of us are all too aware of how frustrating and inconvenient it can be when we miss the delivery of a parcel and find it difficult to collect it from the delivery office because the opening hours are unsuitable. The extension of opening hours will also be good news for carriers and retailers in terms of cost saving on redelivery.”
Delivery offices taking part will open between 12pm and 4pm from this Sunday.
