Staff at Derry’s Seagate plant were at the top of the queue as registrations for the Foyle Hospice female walk continued this week.

Once again Seagate have come on board as sponsors of the event, continuing a long running partnership between the company and the Foyle Hospice.

June Coates, internal communications and community engagement manager said Seagate were delighted to continue to partnership with the hospice.

“We also sponsor the male event,” she said. “For us it ties in nicely with our healthy journey initiative.

“Seagate try and promote things that make a positive contribution to the employee health and well being of our staff.

“By encouraging our employees to take part in these activities, we are not only supporting a good cause but demonstrating our commitment to their health and well being.”

She said that as one of the biggest employers in the city, there were many people in Seagate who had seen first hand the important work and support provided by the Hospice.

“Foyle Hospice is a cause that resonates with a great number of our employees, “ she said.

“Many have personal experience with family members having spent time there at the end of their lives

“We know that the Foyle Hospice means so much to so many people and we do like to support charities here in our locality.”

June said she expected around 70 of the female staff to register for the event and encouraged local people to come forward and help the charity reach that magic number of 5,000.

“I would ask people to come out,” she said. “It is an amazing sight to see, especially when you are in the group and you look back and see the amazing trail of T-shirts behind you. I think the women who take part have a great sense of camaraderie and they have fun while raising money.”

The Foyle Hospice Female Walk/Run will take place on Sunday 7th June 2015 at 1:30pm. The route is approximately 3 miles.
