Send the kids to Space while you do the Christmas shopping

A novel way of keeping children occupied while parents indulge in the necessary Christmas shopping spree has been announced by local dance theatre company, Echo Echo.

Echo Echo are offering fun and creative play sessions for children this December called ‘Christmas in Space’- perfect for kids to attend whilst mums and dads do the Christmas shopping in town.

The two and three-hour dance and play sessions for children aged 5 –11 years old will be held on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons and will entertain through dance, movement, arts, crafts and storytelling.

Held in Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company’s dance studio based in Bishop Street, it is the perfect location to drop off the kids and get time to do the Christmas shopping.

Echo Echo Development Officer, Sarah Bryden said: “Echo Echo has a strong focus on dance and movement for children through our popular weekly kids classes.

“The company tried out the Christmas in Space idea last year to great feedback, now we’re based in the city centre it will be even more convenient for busy mums and dads.”

So why Christmas in Space? Dancer Ayesha Mailey explains the idea: “We wanted to do something different for children around the Christmas theme- something a bit wacky, creative and fun. The workshop will be a great opportunity for children to dance and get creative.

“We’ll bring our ideas to life using movement and music, storytelling and artwork, and explore what Christmas would be like in Outer Space!”

Christmas in Space dance and play sessions will take place on Friday, December 9 and Friday, December 16, from 4.30pm- 6.30pm and on Saturday, December 10 and Saturday, December 17, from 3pm- 6pm.

The sessions will be in the Echo Echo Dance Studio, 13 Bishop Street, and cost £6 for Friday and £9 for Saturday. Family deals are available.

Places are limited so advance booking is essential.
