SF deny McGuinness Wikileaks claims

Sinn Féin leader Martin McGuinness has denied claims made in US diplomatic cables released by controversial website, Wikileaks, that he had prior knowledge of the Northern Bank robbery.

A cable to US ambassador in 2005 claimed that Mr McGuinness and Gerry Adams were members of the "IRA military command" and, as such, would have had prior knowledge of the 26 million robbery.

Commenting on the documents, Sinn Fin president Gerry Adams denied the claims that he and Mr McGuinness were aware of the robbery.

"I repudiated it then, as did Martin, we both denied it very, very strongly - it isn't true," he said.
