The city centre clothes shop at the centre of a social media storm this weekend - after screenshots of staff’s derogatory comments about a female customer were circulated online - have confirmed it is holding an internal investigation into the matter.
Posts from three staff members at Quiz in the Richmond Centre were circulated widely on Facebook.
In the posts the staff members made derogatory comments about a customer who had visited the shop - and who suffers from a skin condition, thought to be psoriasis.
SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey accompanied members of the customer’s family to what he described “a very positive” meeting with store management yesterday morning. He said: “The family were assured that disciplinary procedures have begun against the employees in question and a public apology will be issued in the short term.
“I would urge all young people to be aware of the impact their words can have on others, particularly on social media, where a few short words can echo around the world before the author understands their consequences,” Mr Ramsey added.
