Shots fired in Waterside

Gun shots have been fired at a house in Derry’s Waterside.

The shots were fired at the window of a home at Jeffrey Avenue shortly after midnight.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Police are this morning investigating the shooting and believe the attackers made off on a motorcycle which was later found burned out.

Detectives at Strand Road are appealing for information.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Shortly after 12.05am it was reported to police that a number of shots had been fired at a living room window of a house. Two males were seen making off from the scene on a motorcycle. A motorcycle was found burnt out at approximately 12.10 am in the Lincoln Courts area.

“Detectives would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have seen this motorcycle between 12.00am in Jeffrey Avenue and 12.10am in Lincoln Courts to contact them at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
