A decision on the name of a new Derry street has been deferred because no-one could confirm where it was.
Sinn Fein Councillor Tony Hassan has now asked for more detail about the development somewhere along the Skeoge Road.
The matter came before a meeting of Derry City Council’s Environmental Services Committee this week.
Councillors were asked to approve names for both a 128 Apex homes complex at Skeoge, and 17 Trinity homes at Nelson Drive.
A council officer said Apex had proposed the name ‘Clon Elagh’ for the Skeoge complex.
Colr. Hassan said there was no problem with the name, but asked about the exact location of the large housing project, and questioned whether this was an application submitted a number of months ago and on which “no sod has been turned yet”.
He added that there were possibly some planning issues associated with developments in this region.
A council officer told Mr Hassan that she did not have a map with her at the meeting but would endeavour to find out, and the matter was deferred so that information can be gathered about the development.
The Nelson Drive development meanwhile will be called Caw Mews.
