The hugely successful and award-winning ‘Slide On’ charity event for Cancer Research UK have announced that the event will be open to the over-12s this year.

Launching on Wednesday, the team behind the event encouraged everyone witha sense of adventure to take part.

Sharon Arbuckle, Fundraising Manager for Cancer Research UK said, “We are hugely excited to be bringing this unique fundraising event to the city once again. We have worked hard to make this year’s slide the best yet and have now made it safe for younger people to enjoy this thrill of a lifetime! Our ‘Slide On Cancer’ event last year raised in excess of £100,000 for Cancer Research UK and was a fabulous weekend in the city centre, so we are expecting ‘Slide On 2’ to be another memorable day in the city’s calendar.”

The event is open to anyone over the age of 12 (parental consent must be provided) and who can raise a suggested minimum target of £50 (all proceeds go to Cancer Research UK). Pregnant women are, however, exempt.

Anyone wishing to take part should visit the Cancer Research UK website (www.cruk.org/SlideOnDerry) or the Cancer Research UK information booth which will be positioned in the Richmond Shopping Centre every Saturday from Saturday 1st August from 11am-4pm and pick up a registration form.

Registration will cost £10 and all those who want to guarantee their slide must raise a suggested fundraising target of £50. For more information, visit the Slide On Facebook page, www.facebook.com/cancerslideon or follow on Twitter @slideoncancer.
