Derry singer songwriter SOAK has made it onto the BBC’s Sound of 2015 list.
The 18-year-old whose real name is Bridie Monds Watson has penned heavily acclaimed songs such as Sea Creatures and Explosion.
The BBC list was put together by a panel of DJs, music critics and broadcasters and highlights 15 of the best and brightest new acts for the coming year.
Last year’s winner was Sam Smith with other previous winners including Adele and Haim.
Speaking to BBC Radio Foyle she said: “I am super excited. My managers called me and I had to keep it a secret. It took me a week or so to learn how to deal with it and to calm my mum down. A lot has changed. I am very busy but I miss Derry.
“I signed a record deal and things just went up a notch. To be on the longlist is massive in itself. It would be incredible if I won, but that’s not that important at the minute. I’m just so happy to be on the list.”
