One of the actors from the first Star Wars film will be arriving in Derry next month to join the Star Wars costuming club.
Local fans are expected to be eager to meet Jack Klaff, who featured in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
Klaff starred as Red Four (John D.) in the original film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope back in 1977.
He later starred in the Bond film For Your Eyes Only and alongside Richard Gere in ‘King David’.
Ireland’s premier costuming club, The Emerald Garrison, will launch an invasion of Derry for a weekend of celebrations and photo opportunities at the Millennium Froum on September 12 and 13.
A fan-run show, by fans for fans, this is an award-winning family event that features full-size replicas of favourite characters, spaceships and creatures based on the hit film series.
It arrives in Derry as part of the CultureTech festival, and will give visitors of all ages the chance to meet with dozens of costumed characters including legions of Storm Troopers, Jedi Knights, Bounty Hunters, Clone Troopers, Darth Vader, Wookies and many, many more.
Paul Mason, General Manager of the Millennium Forum, said he is delighted to be bringing this unique event to the city.
“As a Star Wars fan I have introduced my kids to Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader and for them to now get the chance to meet some of these costumed heroes and villains, promises to be an excellent family day out.
“Our main auditorium will be transformed into an interactive exhibition that will feature 3D sets of some of the most popular Star Wars scenes including: The Hoth Station, Jabba The Hut, Tattooine, Endor Scene and Yoda’s Hut, to name a few.”
Young visitors will have the opportunity to experience Force Training with the Emerald Garrison’s Jedi and Sith instructors.
The Invasion Derry event will give local Jedi apprentices another opportunity to become strong in the ways of the Force.
Invasion Derry arrives at the Millennium Forum on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September as part of the CultureTech festival.
