The Fantastic Emerald Garrison will be landing in the city to take part in the 2D Comics Fair this Saturday as part of the 2D Comics Festival programme of events.

The Stars Wars costuming groups are part of a club that brings together enthusiasts from all over the world.

The members build their own costumes, props and even massive life-size sets to transport you right into the Star Wars movies themselves!

This year the group will be making their guest appearance from 12pm-3pm on Saturday at the Verbal Arts Centre, Bishop Street.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a camera with you, as there will even be a photographer present to take photos, just leave your email address and get the pictures sent directly to you, all for free!

Festival attendees are encouraged to dress up as spot prizes will be given all day for nice costumes and the Emerald Garrison will be judging the main Fancy Dress Competition at 3pm in the foyer.

As well as the Imperial Forces patrolling the Verbal Arts Centre, there will a host of other activities for all ages at the Comics Fair, running from 10am-5pm on the day and entry to all events is FREE.

Meanwhile, Transformers artist Nick Roche will make a guest appearance at this year’s 2D Comics Festival at Derry’s Verbal Arts Centre.

The artist is just one of the premier comic industry professionals booked to appear at the annual event.

Illustrators and writers from titles such as Spiderman, Batman, Star Wars, Beano, Preacher, Dr Who, Buffy, 2000AD, and Dan Dare will converge on Derry from June 2-4 for a series of free workshops, talks and signings, culminating on the final day for the 2D Comics Fair.
