A four foot statue of Our Lady of Fatima stolen from a house in Sheriff’s Glen at the weekend has been found and returned to its owners.
Following an appeal made by the Derry Journal, two women who found the statue in Creggan have returned the statue to Bernadette Ferreria.
The women found the statue in the street but had no idea who it belonged to until they saw the Derry Journal.
The large holy figure had been stolen on Saturday or in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Bernadette said she was delighted to have the statue, which she bought on a recent trip to Portugal, back in her home.
“We’re happy to have her back,” she said.
