Stephen Burton will undertake the sponsored head shave on September 16th at Mason’s Bar.

He told the ‘Journal’ it is the first time he has ever shaved off his hair, which is “ginger and quite long.”

Stephen was inspired to undertake the fundraiser, called ‘Brave the Shave’ after seeing an appeal for volunteers to do so. He said that Macmillan Cancer Care is a “great cause” and one which is close to his heart as a few people close to him have been affected by the disease.

He said: “I saw the appeal and thought that I might as well do it.”

He insists he isn’t nervous about his change in image and is quite looking forward to it.

Stephen quipped: “I can’t really back out now as I’ve committed to it. But I wouldn’t want to as it’s all for a good cause.”

If anyone else wishes to also take part, they will be more than welcome.

Sponsorship cards are available in Mason’s Bar and all support would be very much appreciated by Stephen.

Some of Stephen’s friends are also shaving off their hair for the charity but, as yet, he’s the only one who will do so at the bar.

If you’d like to go watch and show your support for Stephen and MacMillan Cancer Care, the sponsored head shave will begin at 5.00 pm on September 16th.
