The Foyle Hospice are appealing for volunteers to help them with their annual Sunflower Appeal on Thursday 15th & Saturday 17th August 2013 during the Fleadh Cheoil week.
The sunflower is the international emblem for Hospice Care and every year Foyle Hospice joins together with hospices around the world to raise awareness of local palliative care services.
Foyle Hospice would like to ask anyone available to volunteer 1 – 2 hours on either date to assist with their Sunflower Appeal collection.
Rachel Bruce, Community Fundraiser told the ‘Journal’: “We are delighted to be holding our Sunflower Appeal in August this year and it is fantastic that the two dates are over the Fleadh Cheoil week here in the city.
“The Sunflower Appeal is a vital event for all hospices throughout the UK and Ireland and so we would like to ask everyone to spare an hour or two for their local Hospice.
“We are having a very busy summer with the room refurbishment project in our In Patient Unit and preparing to launch our new child bereavement programme, Healing Hearts.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of Foyle Hospice whilst enjoying the sights and sounds of one of the biggest events in the programme for UK City of Culture 2013.”
If you can help out on either day or require further information please contact staff at the Foyle Hospice Fundraising Centre at Culmore Road. You can ring the centre on 028 71359888 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
