The MacCafferty School of Music are in celebratory form after another stellar performance at the Derry Feis.

Una O’Somachain, Musical Director of the MacCafferty School, was awarded the Teachers’ Cup which is given to the vocal teacher whose students win the most prizes at Feis Dhoire Cholmcille.

The Fr Adrian Porter Cup presented last year by Mrs Ray McGinley of the McGinley School in memory of her nephew, has been won for the second year by Una (nee MacCafferty) of the renowned Feis family.

First prizewinners from the MacCafferty School were:- James Nangle (James MacCafferty Medal and Boys’ Solo over 12); Andrew Ferry (Sacred Solo): Joseph Locke Cup, Rose O’Doherty Award); Hannah Richardson (Niamh MacCafferty Cup for Musical Theatre); Jessica Doherty (Gloria Hegarty Cup); Eirinn Clifford (Irish Song 10-12, Fr Jack Gallagher Cup); Demi Lee Armstrong (Girls’ 14-16 Phyllis Simms Cup); Eimear Morrison (Charlie Meehan Cup); Katie May Duffin (English Song P4); Rosie Byrne (English Song P2).

Not included in the photo are 12 pupils who won second prizes and 11 who got third prize.

Also included is Eibhlin Boydell, Una’s daughter, a member of the MacCafferty team.
