A Dungiven teenager caught driving without insurance has been fined £200 and received six penalty points.
Steven O’Neill, 18, from Ballyquin Road was sentenced for the offence at Limavady Magistrates Court.
The court heard police saw O’Neill turn onto the Garvagh Road on November 3, 2014, but he didn’t indicate.
When police checked, they discovered O’Neill was not insured.
When asked to produce insurance, O’Neill did, but it didn’t start until after the time he was detected by police.
District Judge Liam McNally said it was O’Neill’s responsibility to make sure he was insured.
O’Neill was also ordered to pay a £15 offender levy.
