Derry’s Divert Project is set to hold an under 18s music festival in the Guildhall Square next Wednesday from 2-8pm.
The ‘Teenage Kicks’ festival is a no alcohol event and featuresmany local bands and DJs who prove very popular with the age group.
In addition there will be other attractions at the event such as Henna Tattoos, face painting, dance troupes and much more giving young people a real feel for festival life.
Divert are expecting approx 1000 or more young people, and there will be much security as well as St. John’s Ambulance on hand for Health and Safety measures.
There will also be info stalls providing young people a window of opportunity to access services they may not normally approach.
A spoksperson for Divert said: “We are confident this will be a great event for the young people of Derry, and would encourage young people between the ages of 13 - 18 years to come along and enjoy what is going to be an amazing young peoples’ festival.
“The Divert Project is the lead provider for Alcohol and Drug Education and Prevention within the Northern Sector of the Western Board. Our services work to support children, young people, and families suffering as a result of their own or another’s substance abuse.
“Divert recognizes the importance of providing young people with choices and alternatives to promote a healthy lifestyle, recognizing that music is fundamental to their mental and emotional health and well being.”
