Backstage, nationally recognised for its work with young people opens a Performing Arts Academy at the Millennium Forum on Sunday, January 22, 2012.
It will be open to 8-18 year-olds (students are grouped by age) and will run every Sunday from 2pm-5pm.
During the three hour session each week, students will undertake three workshops from variety of subjects ranging from acting, musical theatre and comedy to street/hip-hop/jazz/stage dance and singing. The fee is £10 per weekly, three-hour session, paid weekly.
Backstage students can be seen on stage shows, TV and films including ‘The Tudors’,’ The Railway Children’ and ‘Seven Songs for Amy’
The staff team are a unique combination of theatre/TV professional and teacher and there is a big emphasis on building self confidence.
On the first day - Sunday, January 22, we are holding an Open Day when prospective students can come along and experience the work of the company before joining. Entry to the Open Day is free of charge but you must arrive on time and be prepared to stay for the three hour session.
A parent should accompany under 12’s to and from the Open Day but will not be required to stay during the session.
Backstage does not hold auditions and places will be filled on a first come. first served basis at the end of Open Day. There is no need to book for Open Day-just come along.
