The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) were visible from Pollan Strand, Ballyliffin last Tuesday night. These images were captured by Mark Nolan, a local landscape photographer. Mark heard there could be some aurora activity further south than usual and travelled from nearby Carndonagh to Ballylillin more in hope then expectation.
The beach was pitch black, only lit by the aurora and the stars. The silhouette of Glashedy Island and lights from dwellings on Malin Head are visible in the background.
