Star of The Voice television show, Rachael O’Connor surprised pupils at her old school to encourage them to follow their dreams.

The Drumsurn singer, who made a comeback on E4’s new series ‘Stage School.’ shot to fame on the hit show in 2014 working alongside music sensation, Kylie Minogue, but didn’t make it to the final.

Rachael recently toured Europe and Israel in the stage show of Michael Flatley’s ‘The Lord of the Dance’.

She spoke to Year 11 and 12 pupils at assembly in Limavady Grammar School.

Not one to forget her roots, Rachael said her singing career started when she was encouraged to take part in a talent show at Limavady Grammar.

She encouraged all pupils “to make the most of their talents and to show determination in order to realise their ambitions”.

Rachael told the ‘Journal’ last month she’s still working on her own music and will be approaching record labels in the near future.
