‘This just shows what type of guy Joe Brolly is’
Former Derry GAA star, Brian McGilligan says his long time team mate’s “amazing” act will have done wonders to raise awareness about organ donation.
The towering All Star midfielder had nothing but praise for his old friend when he spoke about what the 42-year-old barrister had done.
“I think everyone knows Joe Brolly has his eccentric ways, but I think this shows exactly just the type of guy he is,” said Brian.
Explaining how his son Fintan had an operation to remove one of his kidneys when he was just an infant, Brian said he knew exactly what it was like for families to have a loved one ill.
“I know how much this means because of my son. Fintan is 15 now and he’s doing well, but I know what it’s like,” he said.
“What Joe has done is amazing.
“This is a story that’s on the front page of papers raising awareness about organ donation and how important it is.
“Money can’t buy that. I wish them both well.”
