This was an attempt to murder police - top cop

A senior Derry cop says a bomb attack on police in Creggan on Sunday night was a “blatant and reckless attempt to murder police officers and which put the lives of civilians at risk”.

Chief Superintendent Stephen Cargin said he was “thankful” the “substantial explosive device” thrown at police in Creggan Heights hadn’t killed the two male officers inside, the pensioner’s house where the device detonated, or the man and woman travelling behind police in a civilian vehicle.
